In reading we have been working on monitoring our comprehension as we read.

Students who are good at monitoring their comprehension know when they understand what they read and when they do not. We worked this week on keeping track of our inner voice as we read by writing sticky notes about our thinking.  On Friday we read Teammates about Jackie Robinson's struggle to be the first Africa American in Major League Baseball.  While reading we made notes of our connections and our thinking.  Last we used the iPad to draw a picture of our connection.

Here are some of the examples:

Mia's connection to our assembly "Don't let people steal your POWER!"

Cooper's connection to how we can sometimes feel left out like Jackie Robinson.

Cyerra's connection to the story is with her Great Grandpa who loves to play baseball

Dylan's connection is to the timelines we have talking about in Social Studies.

Grady made a connection to himself and the Karate that he is learning how to do.

Jacey made a personal connection to how she would want to treat others.

Jeffery also made a connection that he would want to help others like Pee Wee Reece
